Research interests: water governance, community participation, citizenship
Biography: Cynthia is a Masters student working with Dr. Leila Harris at the Institute
for Resource, Environment and Sustainability. Her research looks into water governance at the community level in urban Accra, Ghana. More specifically, her research looks at underserved communities’ engagement, participation and negotiation around water access; as well as implications for questions of citizenship and democracy. For this research, Cynthia conducted fieldwork in Accra during the summer of 2011 and was recently awarded a SSHRC-GSC Scholarship.
Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Art with a double major in Environmental Studies and International Studies from York University (2009), as well as a Certificate in Communication and Media Studies from Université du Québec à Montréal (2010).
