Sukhi Bath was born in Punjab, India. He moved to Canada at the age of 21 years in 1979. His first job in Canada was at a farm, and later he drove a taxi. Bath believes that these experiences taught him a lot, and that he may not have made it where he is without those experiences. In 1981 Bath started working at an auto dealership in New Westminster, and later came to own one.
In 1993 Bath started the Sukhi Bath Foundation, with the main motive of helping others. This initiative started off with medical camps in Punjab. The Foundation has worked in the Philippines, India Thailand, and Pakistan. The Foundation also gives scholarships to students at various colleges in Punjab, and assists financially underprivileged girls with marriage costs (328 people have been helped in this way, to date). Bath believes it to be his ethical duty to help others with their basic needs. Along similar lines, in 2006 the Punjab Bhavan was created with the goal of helping Punjabi as a language and helping Punjabi writers. Punjab Bhavan hosts multiple events (around 25 events a month) with the same purpose: to help enrich the culture and to provide a stage for respected and talented writers. In this way, Mr. Bath contributes to the life of Punjabi in BC.
