Sohan Singh Punni

Born in 1948 in a village in Jalandhar (Indian Punjab), Sohan Singh completed his MA in history from Chandigarh and started teaching at Baring College. The underpayment of his job forced him to leave behind his dream job of a history teacher and migrate to Canada. He had to work in sawmills in order to earn but did not let his passion for history writing die. He has collected a number of important archives over time and has also written extensively about Komagata Maru incident, Ghaddar Party, Mewa Singh and Hopkinson. In the interview, he shares his journey of migration to Canada, shows his collection of archives, talks about his writings, importance of knowing history and methods of doing historical research.
