Kuldeep Kaur Brar

After arriving in Canada in 2004, she served as the Punjabi and Sikh
Studies Head of Department at Dasmesh Punjabi School, Abbotsford.
Under her leadership, students participated in, and won several local
and provincial competitions and events including public speaking,
essay writing and story writing. Currently, she continues teaching at
Dasmesh Punjabi School, supporting the school’s vision statement and
promoting the importance of preserving the Punjabi Language and
developing strong ethical and moral values for future generations.
Her dedication and work ethics towards curriculum development,
community involvement, and school involvement is a strong indicator of
her passion in the field of education. She is determined to create
educational resources in Punjabi within a Canadian context to
contribute to the further development of Punjabi Language in Canada.
In the interview, she talks about her family, her journey in teaching
Punjabi, the curriculum at Dasmesh Punjabi School, the importance of
literature, the challenges in getting access to resources for teaching
Punjabi, and the feedback she receives as a teacher from students and
their parents.
