Sucha Singh Claire

Sucha Singh Claire is both an activist and authore. He moved to Canada in 1969 and since then has been an active member of the community, working hard to maintain the Punjabi culture in Canada. After noticing the lack of Punjabi clothing stores in Vancouver, Mr. Claire decided to open his own store in 1970. This encouraged other members of the Punjabi society to open their own stores, and this was the beginning of the area now known as Punjabi Market. He worked hard alongside the Punjabi Market Associate, of which he was a president, to advocate for Punjabi rights. Mr Claire actively engaged with the Punjabi language and writing, after he was asked to write articles for the Indo-Canadian Times newspaper. He has written around 250 articles to date, and continues to support Punjabi and its growth.
